As an employee of the state, MLK Day is a holiday, and every year I spend it in the train room. This year was no different, and my mission was to complete the riverbed and adjoining city block where the PRR's Lewistown Secondary crosses the Juniata River.

A challenge is that the riverbed is just three inches above the yard ladder for staging, so the track needs to remain accessible for maintenance. That said, it all needs to be removable. I had previously created the riverbed where the bridge itself will be located. It is removable via three screws, allowing the through girder bridge to remain as one piece.

The Chief Engineer of the PRR Middle Division in HO Scaleis pleased to present its report of progress as of the end of fourth quarter 2016.

A goal for Q4 was to complete location Lewistown (LN), consisting of the Lewistown Secondary from the Juniata River to the junction of the Milroy Secondary and the Sunbury & Lewistown Secondary.

Progress continues on the downtown leg of Lewistown, designated "LN" in the CT1000. All of the trackage below is now wired and operational. I am now working on the bridge where the line crosses the Juniata River to get to the Lewistown yard and station. The following views are progressive and facing railroad-east.

This past Sunday we lost a good friend, Robert "Bob" Martin of Emigsville, Pa. The following is from the York Daily Record:

Robert E. Martin, 74, died Sunday, December 18, 2016 at home. He was the husband of Carole L. (Moyer) Martin. Mr. and Mrs. Martin were married for 51 years on August 21, 2016. [Ed. Note: Carole's father, John Moyer, was the fireman on GG1 #4876 leading the Federal Express when it crashed into Union Station in Washington, D. C., on January 15, 1953.]

Born April 18, 1942 in York, he was the son of the late Robert C. and Mable I. (Plymire) Martin.

The PRR Middle Division in HO Scale is making progress on laying trackage through downtown Lewistown. This section will finally link the lower level -- the main line -- with the upper level -- the Milroy secondary.

An open house was held on November 5th as part of The Model Railroad Open House. The last guest was barely out the door when construction commenced!
