The FD2 depressed center flat car -- "Queen Mary" -- was built at Altoona Car Shops in April 1952 and was the largest freight car on the Pennsy roster. With a capacity of 250 tons and a length of 121'9" over strikers. The loading deck was 27'0" by 9'0".

The wewlded car body was carried on two span bolsters, each sporting two trucks containing eight wheels each. The 4F5-T1 trucks were salvaged from retired T1 locomotive tenders.

The FD2 has been offered on brass by Railworks and Alco Models; and in resin by Concept Models. Decals are available from Mount Vernon Shops.


Railworks bundled their FD2 with the alternative FW-1 body.
