Prototypically, this location at Duncannon, Pa., is where passenger and freight trains receive new track alignments. The routing east of this location does not follow the Pennsy mainline "norm". It also has the unique feature of having only three "through" tracks. That is, there are four tracks entering both ends of the interlocking, but only three tracks through!
Part of the interlocking plant is actually located on a picturesque stone arch bridge over Sherman's Creek, just as it empties into the Susquehanna River. The six span bridge measures 340 feet in length.

The Model
Operationally, this interlocking will route passenger and freight trains appropriately for Harrisburg to the east and Kittaning Point to the west.
