Jerry Britton's PRR Middle Division in HO Scale

The Chief Engineer of the PRR Middle Division in HO Scale is pleased to present its report for the second quarter of 2017.

Progress and been varied and slow, complicated by a short circuit (see separate blog), oral surgery, illness, and two inches of water in the basement as a result of a recent tropical storm!

Since last quarter, approximately half of the track has been laid in Lewistown yard.

Barrett Hill Touch Toggles have been implemented at two locations that feature single switches. Sort rails and card boxes have been installed for the Lewistown Yard crew, and dividers have been generated to assist in the sorting process. (See below.)

The division's web site has moved to a new service provider and accounts for a significant increase in speed.

Over the coming weeks, the focus will be on the turntable installation -- the last item needed for my NMRA Electrical Engineer AP -- and waybill generation -- the last item needed for my Dispatcher AP.

You can review the complete progress report here.

There are two locations where there is only one switch and cannot justify a "control panel". For these I installed recessed Touch Toggles from Berrett Hill Trains. The lamp shows green as a normal indication; red for thrown. Touching the light throws the switch!

I installed car card boxes and a lengthly sort rail in the Lewistown yard pit. Both are conveniently located just below eye level, with the yard below. The control panel for the yard will be above.

The new card boxes in the yard have been filled with car cars -- no waybills yet -- as well as dividers that reflect the use of each track. I am working on the track labels for the boxes.
