Jerry Britton's PRR Middle Division in HO Scale has scheduled a public open house on Saturday, November 5, 2016, from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. The address and map is available from The Model Railroad Open House web site, referenced below.
The model railroad depicts the Lewistown, Pa., area during the early 1950s. The four track Pennsy main line passes the Lewistown Junction station, behind which radiate out the Lewistown and Milroy secondaries.
The railroad, under construction since 2010, occupies a 24 x 32' basement and features two levels. The model strives for prototypic accuracy through the use of valuation maps, Sanborn maps, Pennsylvania Railroad documentation, aerial and period photographs, and interviews. To that end, note the similarities between the model of Lewistown Station (above) and an actual photograph from 1954 (below) -- even the locomotive number is the same!
Jerry is a member of the Pennsylvania Railroad Technical & Historical Society, a member of its Middle Division and New England chapters, and president of its Northern Central Chapter. Jerry is a member of the Susquehanna Division, Mid Eastern Region, National Model Railroad Association and the NMRA OpSIG. Jerry is also the operator of the Keystone Crossings (PRR) and Alphabet Route web sites. Jerry is working towards his NMRA Master Model Railroader (MMR).
This open house is part of The Model Railroad Open House, which features over 120 open house events over the course of November, which is National Model Railroad Month. It should come as no surprise that Jerry is also the overall coordinator for this effort as well!
